Men's Department

The Men’s Department is a place where men come together to uplift one another, develop leadership and deepen their relationship with God. Whether you are new or returning, you are welcome in this brotherhood of faith and service.

History

Men have served at Effort since its founding in 1875, and in 1963 the men of Effort formally organised into a department, the first Baptist church in the LBMEC to do so, with Bro. Maesa D. Nelson, Sr. as first president. In 1960 Deacon J.C.N. Howard, Sr. represented Effort at the Baptist World Alliance congress in Rio de Janeiro, where he was named Continental Vice President for Africa.

In 2004 the department launched its first Baptist Men’s Breakfast Fellowship. Effort’s men have held the presidency of the National Baptist Men three times.

Our Houses

The department is organised into three Houses:

• The Royal Men of the House of David
• The Militants of the House of Joshua
• The Wise Men of the House of Solomon

The current president is Bro. T. Siekula Vannie.
